Vulcan homeworld
Now, a new discovery puts a little more science into that science fiction assertion. In their Letter to the Editor, they argued that 40 Eridani A - an orange-ish star 16 light-years away - would make the ideal home for Vulcan, the home planet of Science Officer Mr. An artist's illustration of the super-Earth orbiting 40 Eridani A, the host star of the fictional Vulcan.Īlmost three decades ago, Gene Roddenberry (producer of the Star Trek universe) wrote a letter to Sky & Telescope, along with Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics astronomers Sallie Baliunas, Robert Donahue, and George Nassiopoulos. Now, a robotic survey has discovered a planet around that very star. Please un-nerf the Borg.Thirty years ago, three astronomers and Gene Roddenberry, of Star Trek fame, made the case to Sky & Telescope readers that the orange-hued star 40 Eridani A ought to host Vulcan, Spock's home. They are a lot of fun to play as and against. Thanks for the hand work I really love the rest of the races. I wonder if anyone likes playing against them as they are now? I think the reception would be very positive if they were very difficult. I think you have the right idea of powerful late game, but it takes way too long to get them into the fight and they should be more powerful than they are. I can defeat their wave and push to eliminate all of them with a fraction of my fleet. I’ve even let them build up for a really long time and let them initiate the battle. I have played against multiple expert cpu Borg players when I’ve taken the fed and I can handle them with ease. Have to rally my forces to stand a chance against them. Personally I’ll rarely play as them I just want them to be challenging. Make them Super hard to take down and super easy to use. I personally think the Borg should be OP. A fleet of 15-20 ships can take a cube down, but if you are playing as the Borg you’ll likely not get the opportunity to use a cube. They take FOREVER to build any sort of a force but not just that their ships are pretty weak considering how long it takes to get them. They are not a threat to anyone and are near impossible to take and do well with against the computer. However the Borg are completely useless in this game. I have to say, I love this mod, and all the work you have put into this. Thanks for reading this and I'm not critising anything about this mod.I love it I just wanted your thoughts. So if you could increase the hill value, add weapons to it or make starbases more defendable that would be perfect. Even increasing the hull value doesn't seem to fix it. Are you planning on having an option to have a fully armed starbase as your starting HQ? My brother and I notice that the Outposts are really easy to destroy by just warping in.targeting it.and then warping out which takes the fun away from having to defend your base and having a long drawn out conflict. Are you still developing this mod? The reason I ask is because a lot of ships when you look at their description say "pending" and it would be great to know if that will be updated soon.Ģ. My favorite part is the is so beautiful to listen too and is era specific which I love! I know your busy with life but I just wanted to ask a couple questions and see if there are answers for it.ġ.
Vulcan homeworld mod#
The mod more than quadrupled in size in the last three years, so it will be impossible to show everything that has changed here, but I have prepared some. We have also redone the ship debris so that they persist for 200 seconds after a ship is destroyed, they "burn" up in an interesting reverse of the build visualisation and then despawn. Taking a leaf from the Star Trek: Armada flavour of play here are some screenshots of ships being visibly constructed for your pleasure We have also taken the ultimate in impossible-to-do-in-homeworld things and made them done.
It's subtle but the galaxy in the background is actually positioned to show as it would in the hypothetical locations of these maps! You can probably also see from the screenshot of Bajor above that the maps have received an amazing graphical overhaul, here's Alpha Centauri as well to demonstrate the improvement. One excellent thing to try is the new debugging tools (if you enable them in the game setup) and camera controls, you enable them with "Y" in game and you can see them on the left hand side of the screen. There's been so much added to the deathmatch options that I am not even sure what's new anymore! Not to mention the updates to the Invasion game mode originally from Homeworld and the Flight Mode technical demonstration, not to forget the ship gallery game mode! Pretty much every single script in the mod has been rewritten and optimised, you can now reasonably expect a multiplayer game to work (even with all the new features).
